Treatment of male and female pattern hair loss (androgenic alopecia)
This medication is used for the treatment of male pattern hair loss and female pattern hair loss, also known as androgenic alopecia. Products are available in concentrations of 2%, 3%, and 5%, with each concentration tailored for the specific treatment needs. It helps recover the hair health of those concerned about hair loss and slows down the progression of hair loss. With consistent use, hair can gradually improve, alleviating hair loss symptoms. This drug is effective for the treatment of androgenic alopecia and improves hair condition.
(Gel) After thoroughly drying the hair and scalp, apply 0.5 to 1 g of this medication twice daily (morning and evening) to the affected area for at least 4 months. The total daily dose should not exceed 2 g. (Liquid) After thoroughly drying the hair and scalp, apply 0.5 to 1 mL of this medication twice daily (morning and evening) to the affected area for at least 4 months. The total daily dose should not exceed 2.
This medication is not recommended for female patients, especially at the 5% concentration. Children under 18 years of age should also not use this medication. Women who are pregnant, may become pregnant, or are nursing should not use this medication at the 2% or 3% concentrations. Individuals with a history of allergic reactions to any of the components of this medication should avoid use. Patients with heart or vascular issues, such as coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, heart failure, heart valve disease, high blood pressure, or low blood pressure should refrain from using this medication. It is also advisable to avoid this medication if there is hair loss for reasons other than genetic causes, if sudden partial hair loss occurs, or if there are anomalies on the scalp, such as inflammation, infection, irritation, psoriasis, or sunburn. Avoid use in cases of unexplained hair loss or when using other scalp treatments, or if the scalp has been shaved. Individuals who do not tolerate the 2% concentration well should refrain from using the 5% concentration, and those experiencing hair loss related to childbirth should avoid the 2% and 3% concentrations. During the use of this medication, it should not be used with topical corticosteroids, retinoids, petroleum jelly, or dithranol, as these can enhance skin absorption. Caution is advised if taking vasodilators such as guanethidine, as orthostatic hypotension may worsen. Patients aged 55 and older, those with edema, and individuals with thyroid dysfunction should consult a doctor or pharmacist before use. If skin irritation, reddening, rash, inflammation, dryness, excessive hair growth in areas other than those treated, folliculitis, or burning sensations occur while using this medication, discontinue use immediately and consult a professional. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting may occur, and cardiovascular symptoms like chest pain, changes in blood pressure, rapid heart rate, or angina may necessitate caution. Various adverse effects have been reported, including respiratory issues, neurological symptoms, hepatitis, kidney problems, and allergic reactions; consult a professional immediately if abnormal symptoms appear. This medication can put a strain on the heart if excessively absorbed, so it is important to consult a doctor or pharmacist before use. If there are wounds or severe inflammation on the scalp, higher absorption may increase the risk of adverse effects, so health status should be checked prior to use. If a dose is missed, proceed with the next dose as scheduled without supplementation. This medication is not effective for hair loss due to specific causes or skin diseases, so it should not be used for drug side effects, nutritional issues, hypothyroidism, hair loss following chemotherapy, or in the case of scarring on the scalp. Avoid contact with children on the areas where this medication has been applied, as it can cause excessive hair growth. In case of overdose, serious cardiovascular side effects may occur, so recommended dosages must be adhered to, and any unusual symptoms should prompt immediate consultation with a professional. This medication is for external use only and should not be applied to areas other than the scalp. Do not use sealed bandages. Avoid contact with eyes or sensitive areas, and if contact occurs, rinse immediately with clean water. After use, thoroughly wash hands and wait until the medication is completely dry before using any hair styling products. Ensure good air circulation to maintain the medication's effectiveness and avoid using a hairdryer. This medication is flammable, so keep it away from flames or heat and store it out of reach of children. Additionally, always keep it securely closed in the original container to maintain quality.
