Relief of acute and chronic diarrhea
This medication is used for acute diarrhea and chronic diarrhea.
1) Acute Diarrhea: The initial dose is 4mg of loperamide hydrochloride administered orally, with maintenance doses of 2mg for each loose stool. The usual daily dose is 6-8mg, and the maximum daily dose is 16mg. 2) Chronic Diarrhea: The initial dose is 4mg of loperamide hydrochloride administered orally, with 2mg for each loose stool until diarrhea is resolved. Thereafter, adjust the dose as necessary for each individual patient.
Acute Diarrhea: The initial dose is 2mg of loperamide hydrochloride administered orally, with maintenance doses of 2mg for each loose stool. The maximum daily dose is 6mg. Adjust according to age and symptoms.
This medication should not be used in infants under 24 months or children with chronic diarrhea. It should also not be administered to patients with bacterial diarrhea accompanied by bloody stools or high fever, and should not be used in patients with acute ulcerative colitis or antibiotic-associated pseudomembranous colitis. It should not be used in cases of serious bowel diseases such as intestinal obstruction or megacolon, and if symptoms such as constipation, abdominal distension, or signs of intestinal obstruction occur, use should be stopped immediately. Patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication should not use it. Additionally, it should be avoided in patients with hemorrhagic colitis or certain types of bacterial diarrhea. Since this medication contains lactose, it should not be administered to patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders. Patients with liver function impairment should use this medication cautiously, and side effects may include nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, constipation, abdominal pain, etc. Skin rashes or severe allergic reactions may rarely occur, therefore if any abnormal symptoms appear, medical consultation should be sought promptly. This medication does not treat the cause of diarrhea, so if symptoms do not improve within 48 hours (for acute diarrhea) or 10 days (for chronic diarrhea), use should be discontinued and a specialist consulted. Adequate hydration and electrolyte supplementation are necessary due to the risk of dehydration from diarrhea. Caution is advised when driving or operating machinery as drowsiness or dizziness may occur. It is recommended to avoid use in early pregnancy unless in special cases, and it is not recommended during breastfeeding. Elderly patients may have reduced physical function, so dose adjustments and caution are required. In case of overdose, serious side effects such as central nervous system depression, respiratory depression, and cardiac arrhythmias may occur, so the prescribed dosage must be adhered to, and in case of overdose, immediate medical attention should be sought. Administration of tablets or capsules is not recommended for children under the age of 7.
Urticaria, angioedema, toxic epidermal necrolysis, erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, severe allergic reactions due to anaphylactic shock and anaphylactic-like reactions, intestinal obstruction, abdominal distension, toxic megacolon, acute pancreatitis, urinary retention, central nervous system depression (drowsiness, miosis, muscle rigidity, stupor, respiratory depression, ataxia, drowsiness), QT interval prolongation, serious ventricular arrhythmias, and cases of death.

This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to protect it from air or moisture. It is best to keep the storage temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius.
