This medication is effective in treating gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers. It is also used in the treatment of erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease. It helps alleviate symptoms caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease as well as provides assistance in long-term maintenance therapy. Therefore, it protects the gastric mucosa and helps regulate gastric acid secretion, improving gastrointestinal health.

How to take

Adult dose

Gastric ulcers, duodenal ulcers: Typically, adults are administered 10/600 mg orally once daily. Depending on symptoms, 20/600 mg may be administered orally once daily. Generally, treatment lasts up to 8 weeks for gastric ulcers and 6 weeks for duodenal ulcers. Erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease: Administer 10/600 mg or 20/600 mg orally once daily for 4-8 weeks. Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) for 8 weeks.

Precautions

This drug contains rabeprazole sodium and precipitated calcium carbonate, and is primarily used to treat gastrointestinal diseases by inhibiting gastric acid secretion. This drug should not be administered to certain patients, including those allergic to rabeprazole or related components, patients currently taking certain medications (atazanavir, rilpivirine), pregnant or breastfeeding women, and those with severe renal impairment should avoid taking it. Caution should be exercised when administering this drug to patients with poor liver function, elderly patients, patients with a history of drug allergies, those with compromised heart or lung function, patients with constipation, and those taking multiple medications. While taking this medication, various side effects such as skin rash, itching, blood abnormalities, liver dysfunction, heart problems, digestive disorders, neurological symptoms, respiratory issues, muscle and joint pain, and eye and urinary system abnormalities may occur; thus, if any abnormal symptoms arise, a physician should be consulted immediately. Long-term use can lower gastric acidity and increase the risk of bacterial infections, as well as heighten the risk of fractures; regular check-ups are necessary. This medication is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women; particularly in early pregnancy, it should be avoided as it may affect the fetus. When taking medications, there may be interactions with other drugs, so it is essential to inform the physician or pharmacist of any current medications being taken, especially with warfarin, methotrexate, certain antibiotics, and antivirals. When taking the tablets, it is advised not to chew or crush them but to swallow them whole. In case of overdose, contact a medical institution immediately for appropriate treatment. Store this medication out of the reach of children, protecting it from direct sunlight, and keep it in a dry and cool place.
