Improvement in blood pressure control for essential hypertension
This medication is a combination therapy of Telmisartan and Amlodipine, where Telmisartan dilates blood vessels to lower blood pressure, and Amlodipine relaxes vascular smooth muscle to control blood pressure. This combination therapy is used when blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy in patients with essential hypertension. The two drugs work together to effectively lower blood pressure and help reduce cardiovascular risk. As a result, it is useful in treating patients with difficult-to-manage hypertension and contributes to stable blood pressure control.
The recommended dosage is one tablet once a day, taken with water regardless of meals. It is advisable to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). In patients whose blood pressure is not controlled with a combination of Telmisartan and Amlodipine, this medication may be administered at a dose of 40/5/12.5 mg, and the dosage should be adjusted with intervals of more than 2 weeks based on the patient's blood pressure response. The maximum recommended dose is 80/5/25 mg.
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be stopped immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Caution is required in patients with impaired liver function, as serious side effects such as hepatic coma may occur. Patients with severe kidney disease may experience elevated nitrogen levels in the blood when taking this medication, so kidney function should be closely monitored. Patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication or similar drugs should not take this medicine. Pregnant women, women who may become pregnant, and nursing mothers should not use this medication. Patients with biliary obstruction, severe liver impairment, severe aortic stenosis, or in a state of shock should not take this medication. Patients with diabetes or moderate to severe kidney impairment should be cautious as they may not take this medication along with certain other drugs. This medication may not be effective for patients with primary aldosteronism; hence, it is not recommended. Patients with heart valve disease or obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy should be especially careful when taking this medication. Patients with liver or biliary issues may be affected by the metabolism and excretion of this medication, requiring dose adjustment and caution. Patients with gastrointestinal disorders may experience gastrointestinal bleeding or discomfort, so they should take it cautiously. Patients with renovascular hypertension are at higher risk of hypotension or renal failure; therefore, blood pressure and kidney function should be frequently monitored. Special caution is required for patients with severe hypotension, patients with kidney failure requiring dialysis, and elderly patients, who should start with a low dose. Overdosage may lead to severe hypotension, cardiac arrhythmias, dizziness, and acute renal failure, requiring immediate medical attention. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur while taking this medication, so caution should be exercised when driving or operating hazardous machinery. This medication could interact with multiple drugs, so if you are taking other medications, you must inform your healthcare provider. Blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolyte levels should be regularly monitored, and any abnormal symptoms should be reported to a doctor immediately.
