This medication helps to improve symptoms of impaired digestive function caused by esophageal reflux, hiatal hernia, inflammation or ulcers of the stomach and duodenum, such as abdominal pain, indigestion, nausea, and vomiting. It also has an effect in alleviating symptoms caused by irritable bowel syndrome and spastic colon. For children, it is used to treat habitual vomiting and non-infectious gastrointestinal transit disturbances, as well as digestive issues such as constipation or diarrhea. Overall, it is an effective medication for improving various gastrointestinal-related symptoms.

How to take

Adult dose

Administer 100-200 mg of Trimebutine Maleate orally before meals, three times a day. Adjust dosage appropriately based on age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication contains lactose, so it should not be used by patients with specific genetic disorders that impair lactose digestion. Rarely, gastrointestinal-related symptoms such as constipation, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, nausea, vomiting, digestive disturbances, dry mouth, and oral numbness may occur with the use of this medication. Infrequently, symptoms of rapid heartbeat may occur. Mental or neurological symptoms such as fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, lethargy, and headache may also occur rarely. Caution is necessary as it may affect liver function, and rare cases of elevated liver enzyme levels may occur. Allergic reactions may present as skin rashes; if such symptoms occur, the use of the medication should be discontinued. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been sufficiently established; therefore, it should only be used by pregnant women or women who may become pregnant if the benefits of treatment are considered to outweigh the risks. The safety of this drug in breastfeeding women has also not been established, so it is advisable to avoid use if possible, and if necessary, to discontinue breastfeeding during treatment.
