This medication should not be administered to patients with primary glaucoma, narrow angles, or shallow anterior chambers as it may elevate intraocular pressure and induce acute angle-closure glaucoma attacks. Individuals with hypersensitivity to the active substances or components of this medication should not use it. It should also not be administered to children under 4 years of age. Patients with Down syndrome, brain injuries, spastic paralysis, benign prostatic hyperplasia, or urinary secretion disorders due to bladder dysfunction should use this medication with caution as it may cause systemic toxicity in individuals sensitive to belladonna alkaloids. Long-term use of this medication may lead to inflammatory or congestive symptoms, such as eye irritation or swelling, and in severe cases, respiratory depression and hypotension may occur. There have also been reports of coma or death in children. Additionally, this medication can increase eye pressure, potentially leading to glaucoma or elevated intraocular pressure, so elderly patients or those at risk for glaucoma should take special precautions. While using this medication, patients may experience blurred vision due to mydriasis or paralysis of accommodation, thus they should avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery. They may also become sensitive to bright lights and it may be necessary to use sunglasses for protection against light. For children, care should be taken to ensure that this medication does not come into contact with the mouth or skin, and hands should be washed thoroughly after use. Combining this medication with other anticholinergic drugs can enhance effects or increase side effects, so it is essential to inform a doctor or pharmacist if other medications are being taken. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should use this medication only when absolutely necessary, as the effects on the fetus or neonate are not clear, and caution is advised during breastfeeding. In cases of overdose, symptoms of toxicity such as skin dryness, flushing, blurred vision, rapid heartbeat, fever, and mental disturbances may occur, and immediate medical attention should be sought. This medication is for ophthalmic use only and should be used carefully to avoid direct contact between the container opening and the eye, and it is advisable to avoid sharing it with others.
