It helps prevent the recurrence of gastric or duodenal ulcers that may occur during the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Therefore, it is effective in protecting the gastric mucosa and alleviating symptoms, improving the patient's gastrointestinal health.

This medication should not be administered to patients with hypersensitivity to this drug or its components, or with a history of such reactions. Moreover, it is recommended not to use this drug concurrently in patients taking specific antivirals such as atazanavir, nelfinavir, or rilpivirine. Caution should be exercised when using this drug in patients with impaired renal function, liver issues, and in elderly patients. While taking this medicine, gastrointestinal disorders such as epigastric pain, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting may occur. Additionally, abnormal reactions such as peripheral edema, allergic reactions, symptoms of infection, musculoskeletal pain, dizziness, and insomnia have also been reported. Liver function abnormalities or hepatotoxicity may occur; therefore, if there are any abnormal liver function test results or symptoms indicating deteriorating liver function, use must be immediately discontinued. For long-term use, regular monitoring such as endoscopy is necessary as it can mask serious conditions such as gastric cancer. When using this drug to prevent the recurrence of gastric or duodenal ulcers in patients who have taken NSAIDs for a long time, a history of gastric ulcer must be confirmed. This medication may increase the risk of osteoporosis-related fractures; thus, caution is particularly necessary for elderly patients or those at high risk of fractures. Additionally, this medication can lower gastric acidity, which may impair the absorption of certain drugs, so it is important not to combine it with drugs like atazanavir, nelfinavir, and rilpivirine. Occasionally, this medication may affect the metabolism of other drugs, therefore if other medications are being taken, it is essential to consult a doctor or pharmacist. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should refrain from taking this medication unless in specific circumstances, and breastfeeding women are recommended to discontinue breastfeeding during the use of this medication. Safety in pediatrics has not been sufficiently established; hence it should be used cautiously in children. Finally, elderly individuals may be more affected due to decreased liver and kidney function, requiring special caution while taking this medication.
