It is also used for the treatment of osteoporosis to enhance bone health and maintain bone density. Therefore, this drug is used for the relief of symptoms of various bone-related conditions and for the maintenance of skeletal health.

How to take

Adult dose

For chronic renal failure and osteoporosis: 0.5-1 micrograms administered orally once a day as alfacalcidol. For hypoparathyroidism and other diseases caused by vitamin D metabolic dysfunction: 1-4 micrograms administered orally once a day as this drug.

Child dose

For osteoporosis: 0.01-0.03 micrograms per kg body weight administered orally once a day as alfacalcidol. For other conditions: 0.05-0.1 micrograms per kg body weight administered orally once a day as this drug.

Precautions

This drug should not be taken by patients with elevated levels of calcium and phosphorus in the blood or by those with alkalosis. Patients who are allergic to this drug or show signs of vitamin D toxicity should also avoid it. While taking this medicine, it is advisable not to use drugs containing magnesium, vitamin D, or calcium together. Women who are breastfeeding should avoid using this drug if possible, as its safety has not been established. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should only take it after consulting with a physician.
