Control of LDL cholesterol and improvement of dyslipidemia
Pitavastatin 2mg monotherapy effectively controls LDL cholesterol levels in adult patients with high coronary artery disease. However, this therapy is also used for mixed dyslipidemia, which can increase triglyceride levels and decrease HDL cholesterol levels. This medication primarily helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases by lowering LDL cholesterol. Therefore, Pitavastatin is used to manage lipid levels in patients at high risk for coronary artery disease and contributes to the overall improvement of cardiovascular health.
As a recommended dose, take one tablet daily regardless of meals.
This medication contains two ingredients, Pitavastatin Calcium and Fenofibrate, which are used to control blood lipid levels. Caution is advised as muscle-related symptoms such as myalgia, muscle weakness, and muscle cramps may occur during treatment with this drug. Particularly, there is a risk of severe muscle damage known as rhabdomyolysis, which requires immediate consultation with a physician if such symptoms arise. Patients over 65 years old, those with impaired kidney function, uncontrolled hypothyroidism, and individuals with alcohol addiction should undergo blood tests before taking this medication to assess the risk of muscle damage. This medication may affect liver function, so patients with liver disease or elevated liver enzymes should have regular check-ups and discontinue if liver function worsens. Additionally, this drug may influence kidney function, requiring special caution in patients with reduced kidney function and regular kidney function tests during treatment. Women who are pregnant, possibly pregnant, or nursing should not take this medication, and it is not administered to children due to safety concerns. Rare side effects such as skin rash, itching, headache, dizziness, dyspepsia, and various mild liver function abnormalities may occur, so immediate consultation with healthcare professionals is advised if any unusual symptoms present. During treatment, regular testing of blood lipid levels as well as liver and kidney function should be conducted, and treatment should be halted if no therapeutic effect is observed. This medication should be temporarily discontinued if there is a planned surgery or significant health condition change. This drug has minimal impact on the ability to drive or operate machinery, but caution is warranted due to the possibility of dizziness.
