This medication is used for the treatment of patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled even with combination therapy of telmisartan and amlodipine.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is to be taken once daily, 1 tablet with water, regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). If blood pressure is not controlled, the 40/5/12.5 mg dose may be administered, with dose adjustments at intervals of more than 2 weeks. The maximum recommended dose is 80/5/25 mg.

Precautions

This medication should not be used during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, as it can cause serious harm to the fetus. Patients with impaired liver function or ongoing liver disease should use this medication cautiously, as serious side effects such as hepatic coma may occur. In patients with severely impaired kidney function, this medication may be toxic, so use should be avoided or administered very cautiously. Those who are allergic to this medication or its components, have specific heart diseases, biliary obstructive diseases, are pregnant, or are breastfeeding should not take this medication. Patients with low blood pressure, severe renal failure, hypokalemia, hyponatremia, hypercalcemia, or other electrolyte imbalances should also avoid this medication. Patients with primary aldosteronism, particular heart valve diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, or renal artery hypertension should use this medication with special caution. This medication may cause various side effects such as dizziness, hypotension, headache, and rash, and symptoms should be immediately reported to a physician if they become severe. Blood pressure may drop rapidly upon initial administration, so caution is especially required at this time; if symptoms of hypotension occur, the patient should lie down and rest immediately. There is a risk of increased potassium levels, so caution is needed when taking potassium supplements or potassium-containing foods with this medication. Patients with compromised kidney function should undergo regular blood tests to monitor kidney function and electrolyte status. This medication may interact with other antihypertensives, diuretics, and specific heart medications, so any concurrent medications must be reported. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid taking this medication, and if pregnancy is planned or confirmed, use should be discontinued immediately. The safety of this medication in children has not been established; therefore, its use in children is not recommended. Elderly patients may be more sensitive to the effects and side effects of this medication, so it is advisable to start with a low dose and monitor closely. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, dizziness, and worsening renal function may be experienced, requiring immediate emergency treatment. This medication should be stored away from direct sunlight and in a cool place with low humidity, out of reach of children.
