Improvement of blood pressure control in essential hypertension
This is an explanation for patients with essential hypertension who are treated with a combination of telmisartan and amlodipine, and whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled. Essential hypertension is hypertension without a specific cause, and consistent management is essential for cardiovascular health. These two drugs help control blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels and lowering blood pressure. However, when control is difficult with the combination alone, additional treatment methods or medication adjustments may be necessary. It is important to discuss with your physician to set the optimal treatment plan. This will help effectively manage blood pressure and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, improving health.
Take one tablet daily with water, regardless of meal timing. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (for example, in the morning). In patients whose blood pressure is not controlled with a combination therapy of telmisartan and amlodipine, this medication 40/5/12.5 mg may be administered, adjusting the dose considering the patient's blood pressure response at intervals of more than 2 weeks. The maximum dosage of this medication is 80/5/25 mg.
This medication should not be used during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, as it may cause serious harm to the fetus. Patients with severely impaired liver function or progressive liver disease may experience serious side effects such as hepatic coma when using this medication, so caution is needed. Patients with severe renal disease may experience increased serum nitrogen levels due to the diuretic component of this medication, so renal function should be closely monitored. Patients who are allergic to or hypersensitive to any components of this medication or similar drugs should not be administered this drug. Certain patient groups, such as pregnant women or women with the potential for pregnancy, nursing mothers, patients with severe liver impairment, and patients with severe renal failure, are prohibited from using this medication. Patients with heart valve disease, severe hypotension, or in shock should avoid using this medication due to potential risks. This medication may cause side effects such as dizziness, hypotension, and headaches due to its blood pressure-lowering effects, and special caution is required, especially for the elderly or patients with weak renal function. During treatment with this medication, blood pressure, renal function, and electrolyte levels should be regularly checked for abnormalities. When used together with other antihypertensive drugs, diuretics, or potassium supplements, the risk of side effects may increase due to interactions, so consultation with a physician is necessary. This medication can affect fluid and electrolyte balance, so patients in a dehydrated state should consult healthcare professionals before taking it. Caution is needed as dizziness or drowsiness may occur when driving or operating machinery. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, cardiac arrhythmias, or acute renal failure may occur, requiring immediate medical attention. Keep out of reach of children, and store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
