This medication is used for the treatment of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease. It helps slow the progression of Alzheimer's disease and improves cognitive function.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is administered orally once a day, at the same time every day. If necessary, it can be prescribed twice a day. 1. Dose escalation: The maximum daily dose is 20mg, and during the first 3 weeks, the dose is increased by 5mg weekly. - First week (days 1-7): 5mg once daily - Second week (days 8-14): 10mg once daily - Third week (days 15-21): 15mg once daily - From the fourth week: 20mg once daily

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who have an allergic reaction to any of its components. Administration is prohibited for patients with severely impaired liver function or very poor kidney function. Patients with a history of epilepsy or seizures, and those at high risk of developing epilepsy should exercise caution when using this medication. Use with similar acting medications such as Amantadine, Ketamine, or Dextromethorphan may increase central nervous system side effects, and should be avoided. Situations that can alter urine acidity, such as abrupt dietary changes to vegetarianism, excessive intake of alkaline beverages, or certain urinary tract infections, require careful monitoring of urine acidity changes. Safety has not been established in patients with recent myocardial infarction, heart failure, or uncontrolled hypertension, and it should be used with caution in these patients. Side effects such as dizziness, headache, constipation, drowsiness, and hypertension may occur; consult a doctor if symptoms are severe. This medication can interact with other drugs, so make sure to inform medical personnel if you are taking NMDA antagonists, antipsychotic medications, muscle relaxants, or anticoagulants. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully consider the potential risks to the fetus before using this medication; it is recommended to discontinue breastfeeding if lactating. It is advised not to use this medication in children and adolescents under 18 years of age since safety and efficacy have not been established. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as confusion, drowsiness, dizziness, hallucinations, and seizures may occur, and immediate medical attention is required. Patients taking this medication should be cautious when driving or operating machinery, as reaction times may be slowed; special care should be taken for safety.
