This medication is used for patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled with monotherapy with either azilsartan medoxomil or amlodipine. This drug effectively lowers blood pressure and helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications. It improves patient health through blood pressure management and contributes to the prevention of complications.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication should be taken once daily with water, regardless of meals. It is advisable to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). 40/5 mg: Administer to patients whose blood pressure is not appropriately controlled with azilsartan medoxomil 40 mg or amlodipine 5 mg monotherapy. 40/10 mg: Administer to patients whose blood pressure is not appropriately controlled with azilsartan medoxomil 40 mg or amlodipine 10 mg monotherapy or this medication 40/5 mg.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy of this drug in children and adolescents under 18 years old have not been established.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Do not take if there is hypersensitivity to this medication or its components, if pregnant or breastfeeding, if there are severe renal diseases or liver dysfunctions, or if there is severe aortic stenosis or a state of shock. Patients with heart failure or renal function dependent on the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system should be cautious as this medication may cause worsening renal function or hypotension. Patients with decreased blood volume or low salt levels may experience hypotension when starting this medication, so their conditions should be corrected, or it should be started under strict medical supervision. Patients with hyperkalemia or at risk of elevated serum potassium levels should have regular blood tests, as potassium levels may increase while on this medication. Dizziness, headaches, hypotension, peripheral edema, and other symptoms may occur during treatment; if these symptoms persist or worsen, consult a doctor. This medication may interact with other antihypertensive agents, diuretics, potassium supplements, etc., so it is essential to inform healthcare providers about any other medications being taken. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur when driving or operating hazardous machinery, so caution is advised. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension or dizziness may occur, so care should be taken not to exceed the recommended dose, and if overdose is suspected, a medical institution should be visited immediately.
