How to take

Adult dose

The recommended starting dose of this medicine is once daily with 10 mg of empagliflozin and 5 mg of linagliptin. If tolerated and further blood sugar control is needed, it may be increased to 25/5 mg once daily. This medicine can be administered regardless of meals, and the tablet should be swallowed whole. Never take double the dose in one day.

Precautions

This medicine consists of two ingredients, empagliflozin and linagliptin, and is primarily used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. First, it should not be used by individuals who are allergic to empagliflozin, linagliptin, or any other ingredients in this medicine. It is also not to be administered to patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, or those undergoing dialysis. Second, patients with impaired kidney function should regularly undergo kidney function tests prior to using this medicine, and exercise caution if taking other medications that may affect kidney function. Fourth, dizziness or low blood pressure due to fluid volume loss may occur, so elderly individuals or those with low blood pressure should take extra caution, and if dehydration symptoms occur, the use of this medicine may be temporarily halted. Fifth, this medicine is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and consultation with a doctor is essential if planning for pregnancy or if already pregnant. Sixth, this medicine has not been confirmed for safety and efficacy in children under the age of 18, and its use is not recommended. Finally, taking this medicine may involve risks during driving or operating machinery due to hypoglycemia, so caution is necessary.
