If additional blood sugar control is needed and well tolerated, the dose may be increased to 25/5 mg (37.766 mg of empagliflozin 2L-Proline) once daily. Precautions

This medication is a combination of two active ingredients, empagliflozin and linagliptin. It should not be used in certain patients. For example, it is contraindicated in those with an allergy to any component of this medication, patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, and those undergoing dialysis. Caution is required when using this medication in patients with impaired kidney function or heart failure. Since kidney function is related to the effectiveness of this medication, it is important to regularly monitor kidney function before and during treatment. Rare skin conditions such as acute pancreatitis or bullous pemphigoid may occur while taking this medication; therefore, if you experience abdominal pain or develop blisters on the skin, you should consult a doctor immediately. The most common side effect reported is urinary tract infection, and other side effects such as hypoglycemia, ketoacidosis, and hypersensitivity reactions have also been reported. The risk of hypoglycemia may increase when used in conjunction with insulin or sulfonylureas. This medication helps control blood sugar, but a serious condition called ketoacidosis may occur; if symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, or breathing difficulties arise, immediate medical attention is critical. Additionally, this medication can cause fluid loss and a drop in blood pressure, so elderly patients or those with low blood pressure should take it with caution. Due to the risk of urinary tract infections and genital fungal infections, prompt treatment is necessary if any infection symptoms develop. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised not to take this medication unless in special circumstances. Its safety and efficacy have not been established in children under 18 years old, so it is advisable not to use it in this age group. While taking this medication, you should be mindful of hypoglycemia symptoms when driving or operating machinery, especially when used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas. In case of overdose, it is important to visit a medical facility immediately for appropriate treatment. Finally, store this medication out of reach of children and keep it in its original container to maintain its safety and quality.
