This medication is used for patients who need to take a combination of amlodipine and losartan and rosuvastatin together. The Amlodipine/Losartan combination is used as the initial treatment for patients with essential hypertension who have not adequately controlled their blood pressure with monotherapy, or for patients with stage 2 hypertension to achieve targeted blood pressure. Rosuvastatin is administered as an adjunct when management with diet alone is insufficient in patients with hypercholesterolemia and mixed hyperlipidemia and helps slow the progression of atherosclerosis. Moreover, it reduces the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and revascularization in patients at high risk for cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, this medication is used to effectively manage hypertension and hyperlipidemia.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious side effects to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, so it must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Caution is required as hypotension may occur when administered to patients with decreased blood volume. Patients with known allergies to any of the components or those with a history of certain liver or kidney diseases or angioedema should not use it. Elderly patients, those with hypotension, or patients with impaired liver or kidney function should use this drug with caution and regularly monitor blood pressure and kidney function. If symptoms of muscle pain or weakness occur, consult a doctor immediately, and discontinue use if severe. This medication may affect liver function; therefore, caution is warranted if there are liver diseases or abnormal liver function test results. There may be interactions with other medications, so inform your healthcare provider if you are taking any other medications. Particularly, caution should be taken when combined with potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements, as blood potassium levels may become dangerously elevated. This drug has blood pressure-lowering effects, which may cause dizziness or fainting; thus, caution is needed when driving or operating machinery.
