How to take

Adult dose

The recommended starting dose of this medication is 1 time daily with 10 mg of empagliflozin and 5 mg of linagliptin. Precautions

This medication contains two ingredients, empagliflozin and linagliptin. It is used to assist in blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes. This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, individuals with an allergy to any of the components, patients with type 1 diabetes, those with diabetic ketoacidosis, and patients undergoing dialysis should not take this medication. Patients with impaired kidney function should regularly undergo renal function tests before taking this medication, and patients with heart failure should also use it with caution. Additionally, if symptoms such as acute pancreatitis or bullous pemphigoid (blistering skin disease) occur while taking this medication, the medication should be stopped immediately and a doctor should be consulted. The most common side effect when taking this medication is urinary tract infection, although rare side effects may include ketoacidosis, pancreatitis, allergic reactions, and hypoglycemia. The risk of hypoglycemia may be heightened, especially when this medication is taken in conjunction with insulin or sulfonylureas, and caution is required. Fluid volume depletion or hypotension may occur, so patients who are being treated for hypertension or have low blood pressure, as well as elderly individuals over 75 years old, should exercise special caution when taking this medication. This medication may also increase the risk of genital fungal infections, so appropriate treatment may be necessary if related symptoms arise. Extra caution is needed when driving or operating machinery due to the risk of hypoglycemia. It is advisable for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding to avoid using this medication, and it is recommended that children under the age of 18 do not take it as its safety and efficacy have not been established. There is no specific antidote for overdose, so appropriate treatment should be administered according to symptoms, and this medication should be stored in its original container in a safe place out of the reach of children.
