Antiviral agents are primarily used for the early treatment of recurrent herpes labialis to quickly relieve symptoms and prevent recurrences. This medication suppresses the proliferation and spread of the virus, preventing the progression of pain and blisters. It is important to consult healthcare professionals for an appropriate treatment plan if symptoms are severe or recur frequently. Early treatment can shorten the duration of symptoms and prevent complications. Therefore, this medication is recommended for the early treatment of recurrent herpes labialis.

Precautions

This medication should not be used by individuals with specific skin infections, as it may worsen their symptoms. Those who are hypersensitive or have had such experiences in the past should also avoid its use. Patients with severely compromised immune systems, such as bone marrow transplant recipients or AIDS patients, should avoid this medication. Patients with eczematous external otitis who have perforations in the eardrum may experience delayed healing when using this medication, so they should avoid it. Patients with ulcers, severe burns, or frostbite should also avoid its use, as skin regeneration may be inhibited. Patients with perioral dermatitis, common acne, or rosacea should not use this medication. It is also safest for nursing women and children under 18 years old not to use this medication. People with a history of myocardial infarction should similarly avoid its use. This medication should not be applied to mucosal areas such as the eyes, nose, mouth, or genitals. During its use, it is advisable not to take certain medications, particularly systemic acyclovir. Additionally, during its use, it is safe not to breastfeed unless there is a specific reason. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication after consulting a doctor, and elderly patients should also use it with caution for side effects. If abnormal reactions such as dryness, peeling, burning, tingling, redness, or inflammation occur on the skin during use, stop using it immediately and consult a specialist. Long-term or extensive use may cause thinning of the skin or side effects such as blood vessel dilation and acne, so caution is necessary. The duration of use of this medication should be limited to within 5 days, and if symptoms do not improve or worsen, discontinue use and consult a specialist. It should be used only for herpes labialis around the lips, and care should be taken if distinguishing from bacterial or fungal infections is difficult. This medication may cause skin irritation or allergic reactions, so it is essential to adhere to the prescribed dosage and administration. Since it contains local corticosteroids, systemic absorption can lead to side effects such as hormonal function suppression, so if used over a large area or with occlusive dressings, regular check-ups are necessary. Vision disturbances may occur, so if symptoms such as blurred vision appear, consult an ophthalmologist immediately. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and kept sealed in its original container to maintain quality.
