This medication is used to assist patients with type 2 diabetes in controlling blood glucose levels while adhering to dietary and exercise regimens. Empagliflozin and Linagliptin work together to effectively improve blood glucose levels. This combination treatment is suitable for patients who have difficulty managing their blood sugar and is expected to provide better blood glucose control. Therefore, it is used as an important adjunct therapy in diabetes management.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended starting dose is 1 tablet of Empagliflozin 10 mg / Linagliptin 5 mg once daily. If tolerated, and additional blood glucose control is needed, the dose can be increased to 25/5 mg once daily. The medication can be taken with existing doses and can be administered regardless of meals. The tablet should be swallowed whole. Precautions

This medication contains two components, Empagliflozin and Linagliptin, for diabetes treatment. First, this medication should not be used in individuals who are allergic to Empagliflozin, Linagliptin, or any of the other components of the drug. Additionally, this medication should not be administered to patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, or those undergoing kidney dialysis. Patients with impaired kidney function should use this medication cautiously and regularly monitor their kidney function. Some heart failure patients have limited experience with this medication, so it should be administered carefully. There may be side effects such as acute pancreatitis or bullous pemphigoid, so if abdominal pain or skin blisters occur, you should consult your physician immediately and stop taking the medication. During treatment with this medication, urinary tract infections, genital infections, hypoglycemia, and symptoms of dehydration may occur, and any unusual symptoms should be reported to medical staff promptly. Particularly, if taken with insulin or sulfonylureas, there is an increased risk of hypoglycemia, so caution is necessary. Elderly patients over 75 years of age are at higher risk for dehydration or hypotension, so extra caution is needed when taking this medication. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised to avoid using this medication and should consult healthcare professionals as necessary. The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established for children and adolescents under 18 years of age, and it is not recommended for this group. In case of overdose, immediate medical attention should be sought, and this medication should be kept out of the reach of children. Lastly, while taking this medication, be cautious about the risk of hypoglycemia when driving or operating machinery.
