How to take

Adult dose

Adults: Administer 50 mg of diphenhydramine hydrochloride orally once a day before bedtime. If excessive sedation occurs when taking 50 mg of diphenhydramine hydrochloride, take 25 mg instead.

Precautions

This medicine should not be used by patients with certain conditions. For example, individuals who are allergic to this medication, or have asthma, emphysema, or chronic bronchitis that makes breathing difficult, should not take it. Also, those with urinary obstruction diseases such as glaucoma or prostatic hyperplasia should not use this drug. Patients with peptic ulcers or duodenal obstruction, children under 15 years old, and individuals with seizure disorders such as epilepsy should also refrain from taking this medication. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, as well as those who regularly experience insomnia or have been diagnosed with insomnia, should avoid this medication. While taking this medication, do not take other medications containing the same ingredient or other hypnotics/sedatives, certain cold medications, antipyretic analgesics, cough medicines, expectorants, or antihistamines. Do not use it continuously for a long time during treatment, and since drowsiness may occur, avoid driving or operating machinery until drowsiness or lethargy subsides after taking the medication. Additionally, it is safer not to consume alcohol. In particular, those with severe myasthenia gravis or undergoing treatment by a physician, elderly individuals, those with allergic tendencies or previous allergic reactions to medications, and women who are pregnant or could become pregnant should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. If any symptoms such as skin rash, itching, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, palpitations, difficulty urinating, or visual disturbances occur after taking this medication, discontinue use immediately and consult a professional. Also, if symptoms do not improve after taking the medication for 2 to 3 days, be sure to consult a doctor. During administration, carefully follow the prescribed dosage and administration guidelines, and it is important to consult a doctor if insomnia persists for more than 2 weeks. Finally, this medication should be kept out of reach of children, and it should not be transferred to another container from its original package to maintain its quality and prevent misuse.
