Effect of nerve block and infiltration anesthesia in dental areas
During dental treatment, nerve block and infiltration anesthesia are mainly used to reduce pain. Nerve block involves injecting the drug around the nerve to block sensation over a wide area, while infiltration anesthesia involves directly injecting the drug into the tissue surrounding the treatment area to anesthetize only the local site. These two anesthesia techniques are used safely and effectively to reduce pain during dental procedures.
For nerve block or infiltration anesthesia, use lidocaine hydrochloride at 6~40mg (this drug as 0.3~2mL). For oral surgery, use lidocaine hydrochloride at 60~100mg (this drug as 3~5mL).
This drug should not be used in certain patients. For example, patients with severe bleeding or shock, those with inflammation at the injection site or sepsis, and patients who are allergic to this drug or similar local anesthetics should avoid administration. Additionally, patients with hypertension, atherosclerosis, heart failure, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, and vascular spasms should exercise caution before using this drug. Administration should also be careful for patients with central nervous system diseases, pregnant women, elderly patients, patients with spinal deformities, and those taking certain anesthetics or antidepressants. This drug contains components that may cause allergic reactions, so caution is especially necessary for patients with asthma. During administration, side effects such as shock, hypotension, arrhythmias, and respiratory depression may occur, so the patient's condition should be closely monitored. Rarely, a severe symptom known as malignant hyperthermia may appear, and if such symptoms occur, administration should be stopped immediately, and appropriate treatment should be provided. Central nervous system-related symptoms may include tremors, convulsions, drowsiness, dizziness, and nausea, requiring attention. Hypersensitivity reactions such as rashes or swelling may also occur, so any abnormal symptoms should be reported immediately. When using this drug, always be prepared for emergencies and administer the minimum effective dose slowly for safety. The safety of this drug during pregnancy has not been established, so it should be used cautiously only when the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks. The elderly may be more sensitive to the components of this drug, so the patient's condition should be thoroughly verified before administration, and dosages should be adjusted accordingly. Finally, this drug is not intended for ophthalmic use, so caution is advised.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
