Precautions

This medication is a quinolone antibiotic and should not be administered to certain patients. In particular, individuals who are allergic to this medication or other quinolone drugs, or have a history of hypersensitivity reactions, should not use it. Allergic reactions may occur during use, such as decreased heart rate or loss of consciousness, swelling of the face or neck, or difficulty breathing, and use should be stopped immediately if such symptoms occur. Itchy or dizzy sensations, or pain may occur when there is inflammation in the ear. Additionally, if there is inflammation in other parts of the body, symptoms such as taste disturbances, headaches, nausea, and fever may arise, so caution is needed. Hearing loss or changes in flora may also occur, and if symptoms arise, they should be reported. To prevent antibiotic resistance, this medication should only be used for the minimum necessary duration after confirming its effectiveness against the infectious bacteria. Typically, a usage period of 4 weeks is recommended, after which the decision to continue should be made cautiously. Long-term use may lead to overgrowth of fungi or resistant bacteria, necessitating alternative treatments in case of recurring infections. If discharge from the ear persists after treatment, or if recurrence occurs within 6 months, further action is required to identify the underlying cause. Quinolone medications, including this one, can cause allergic reactions even after a single use, so if symptoms such as rashes appear, usage should be stopped immediately, and a consultation with a specialist should be sought. If otitis media is limited to the ear mucosa, this medication can be used locally; however, if inflammation spreads to surrounding areas of the ear, consideration should be given to other treatments, including oral medications. During pregnancy, this medication should only be used when the benefits outweigh the risks, and during breastfeeding, either the breastfeeding should be discontinued or the medication should be stopped. It is not advisable to use this medication in infants under the age of 1 year as safety and efficacy have not been established. This medication should be used only for local application, and warming the solution close to body temperature before use can reduce dizziness symptoms. Lastly, in animal studies, oral administration has been reported to cause joint abnormalities in young animals, so caution is required when administering to children.
