This medication is taken in conjunction with diet and exercise to help patients with type 2 diabetes manage their blood sugar levels. The combined action of the ingredients, Empagliflozin and Linagliptin, effectively lowers blood sugar. Therefore, it is helpful in the treatment of blood sugar management.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended starting dosage for this medication is 1 time daily at a dose of Empagliflozin 10 mg / Linagliptin 5 mg. If the patient tolerates 10 mg of Empagliflozin / 5 mg of Linagliptin and requires additional blood sugar control, the dosage may be increased to 1 time daily at 25/5 mg. Precautions

This medication contains two components, Empagliflozin and Linagliptin, which help manage blood sugar levels. This medication should not be used by individuals allergic to Empagliflozin, Linagliptin, or other components, patients with type 1 diabetes, those with diabetic ketoacidosis, or patients undergoing dialysis. For patients with impaired renal function, the effect of this medication may vary; thus, it is important to undergo regular kidney function tests before and during treatment. Patients with heart failure or a history of pancreatitis should be particularly cautious when using this medication, and if acute pancreatitis symptoms develop, the medication should be discontinued immediately, and a healthcare provider should be consulted. Skin conditions such as bullous pemphigoid may occur, so if blisters or skin erosions develop, immediately inform healthcare personnel. The most common side effect while taking this medication is urinary tract infection; additionally, hypoglycemia, dehydration, increased urination, and skin rash may occur. In particular, if taken with insulin or sulfonylureas, the risk of hypoglycemia may increase; thus, careful monitoring of blood sugar levels is essential. This medication may lower blood pressure, so patients with hypotension or cardiovascular diseases should take caution. Moreover, while taking this medication, there is a rare possibility of acute perineal necrotizing infection, so if there is pain, swelling, or fever near the genital area, inform a doctor immediately. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised to avoid this medication; especially during breastfeeding, it is recommended to discontinue breastfeeding since the medication components may be transferred through breast milk. The safety and efficacy of this medication in children under the age of 18 have not been established, so it should not be used in this population. In cases of overdose, emergency treatment, such as removing the medication from the gastrointestinal tract, may be necessary, and appropriate measures should be taken following a physician's instructions. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and kept in its original packaging to maintain quality.
