Acute treatment of migraine with or without aura
This medication is used to rapidly relieve acute symptoms of migraine, with or without aura. It helps to reduce the discomfort associated with migraine headaches, improving the patient's daily life.
This medicine should not be taken for the prevention of migraine. If there is no therapeutic response after the initial dose of frovatriptan, this medicine should not be administered again for the same attack. ○ Adults (18~65 years) The recommended dose of this medicine is 2.5 milligrams (1 tablet) of frovatriptan. If the migraine recurs after initial relief, the dose may be repeated after an interval of at least 2 hours. The total daily dose should not exceed 5 milligrams (2 tablets). ○ Patients with renal impairment No dose adjustment is necessary in patients with renal impairment. ○ Patients with hepatic impairment No dose adjustment is necessary in patients with mild or moderate hepatic impairment. Do not administer to patients with severe hepatic impairment (see Precautions for Use, 1. Patients Who Should Not Take This Medicine).
This medication may not be suitable for certain patients. For example, it should not be administered to patients allergic to this drug or its components, patients with cardiovascular diseases or vascular problems, patients with severe hypertension, patients who have previously experienced a stroke or transient ischemic attack, patients with severe liver dysfunction, and patients taking certain medications. Various side effects such as dizziness, fatigue, headache, and sensory disturbances may occur while taking this medication, but most are temporary and mild to moderate. However, serious heart-related issues may arise infrequently, hence caution is required. This medication should only be used for patients diagnosed specifically with migraine, and prior to use, an assessment by a physician is necessary if non-migraine headaches or neurological conditions are suspected. Additionally, it should be used with caution in patients at high risk for cardiovascular diseases or in the elderly. This medicine may interact with other specific drugs, so if taking ergotamine derivatives or serotonin-related drugs, it must be separated by more than 24 hours. Care should be taken not to exceed the recommended dosage when taking the medication, as long-term or excessive use can worsen headaches. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, children and adolescents, and the elderly should avoid use unless absolutely necessary, as safety has not been adequately established for these groups. In cases of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so immediate medical attention is required for appropriate treatment and monitoring. Finally, drowsiness or dizziness may occur after taking this medication, so caution is advised when driving or operating hazardous machinery.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication may be sensitive to air and moisture, so it must be stored in a tightly sealed container. Additionally, it should be kept at a temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius, at room temperature. Proper storage will help maintain the effectiveness of the medication for a longer time.
