Efficacy & effects

Improvement of nutritional status through trace element supplementation

View approved original text

By supplying trace elements such as zinc, copper, manganese, selenium, and chromium during intravenous nutrition, this product maintains nutritional balance and prevents deficiencies of essential minerals in the body. These trace elements play important roles in various bodily functions including immune function enhancement, wound healing, and antioxidant action. Therefore, supplementing trace elements is useful in improving the overall health status of patients and aiding recovery.

How it is given

Use according to physician's prescription, based on plasma trace element levels for dosage adjustments. For metabolically stable patients on parenteral nutrition: Zinc 2.5-4 mg per day Copper 0.5-1.5 mg per day Manganese 0.15-0.8 mg per day Chromium 10-15 μg per day Selenium 20-40 μg per day Others: - For metabolically stable patients with intestinal fluid loss: additional 12.2 mg/L (amount of intestinal fluid loss) or

Precautions

This medicine contains benzyl alcohol and should not be used in newborns or premature infants as it can cause life-threatening respiratory distress. Direct intravenous injection without dilution poses a risk of phlebitis, so it must be diluted before use. This drug is a hypotonic solution, and therefore only should be used in mixed injections; in case of toxicity, administration should be stopped immediately. Parenteral nutrition solutions contain aluminum, which poses a higher risk of toxicity in patients with impaired kidney function, especially in premature infants, so caution is needed for long-term administration. Before administration, the patient's disease condition and metabolic requirements should be accurately assessed, and blood trace element concentrations should be frequently checked to adjust the dosage. Patients with decreased kidney or biliary function may have difficulties in excreting zinc, copper, manganese, selenium, etc., thus caution is necessary during administration. In patients with diabetes, chromium affects glucose metabolism, so it is essential to confirm the intake of antidiabetic drugs. In pregnant women or women of childbearing potential, the effects of this medication on the fetus have not been sufficiently studied, hence it should only be used sparingly when therapeutic benefits outweigh risks. In case of overdose, symptoms of toxicity from zinc, copper, chromium, selenium, etc., may appear, so prescribed dosages must be strictly adhered to. When adding this drug to parenteral nutrition solutions, it must be used in an aseptic condition, and the solution must be checked for discoloration or precipitate before use. It should be stored in a sealed container to avoid contact with air, preferably at room temperature between 15-30 degrees Celsius, which helps maintain the drug's effectiveness and prevent degradation. During storage, keep it in a dry place and out of reach of children. Transferring to another container can cause quality degradation or accidents and should be avoided.
