Pitavastatin 2mg monotherapy helps to effectively control LDL cholesterol levels in adult patients at high risk for coronary artery disease. However, this therapy is applied to patients with mixed dyslipidemia who may have elevated triglyceride levels and decreased HDL cholesterol levels. Therefore, Pitavastatin is used for managing hyperlipidemia in these patients and contributes to reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Precautions

This medication contains two active ingredients that help control blood lipid levels. When taking this medication, muscle issues may occur; thus, if symptoms such as muscle pain or weakness arise, consult your doctor immediately. Particular caution should be exercised with elderly patients, women, patients with poor renal function, patients with uncontrolled hypothyroidism, and those with a history of muscle disease or alcohol addiction. Additionally, this medication increases the risk of muscle damage when taken with other lipid-lowering agents or specific medications, so inform your healthcare provider about any concomitant medications. Patients with poor liver function or liver disease must have their liver function tested before taking this medication and should undergo regular liver function tests throughout treatment. If liver enzyme levels rise significantly above normal, you may need to discontinue the medication. Patients with moderate to severe renal impairment cannot take this medication, and patients with mild renal impairment should also use it with caution while regularly monitoring renal function. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, nursing mothers, and children under 18 should not take this medication. This medication is also not administered to patients with gallbladder disease, pancreatitis, photosensitive allergic reactions, or certain genetic metabolic disorders. Regular blood lipid levels, muscle-related tests, and liver function tests should be conducted during treatment to monitor efficacy and side effects, and if there is no therapeutic effect, medication may need to be discontinued. It is advisable to take this medication with food, and some patients may experience dizziness, so caution is needed when driving or operating machinery. In the case of overdose, there are no specific antidotes, so symptom-treatment must be provided; store the medication in a secure place out of reach of children.
