Precautions

This drug is a thyroid hormone and is not appropriate for use by individuals with normal thyroid function for weight loss purposes. Special caution should be taken if used in conjunction with sympathomimetic amines as it may cause serious side effects. Patients with specific heart and thyroid conditions such as acute myocardial infarction, myocarditis, severe angina, and hyperthyroidism should not use this medication. Additionally, patients with genetic issues such as lactose intolerance should also avoid it. In certain patients such as those with hypertension, diabetes, adrenal insufficiency, and the elderly, this medication should be administered cautiously with a lower starting dose that is gradually increased. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as palpitations, arrhythmias, insomnia, headache, vomiting, and weight loss may occur, so if any abnormal symptoms arise, immediate consultation with medical personnel is required. This medication can cause liver dysfunction or allergic reactions, so if symptoms like rash or liver function abnormalities occur, the medication should be discontinued and medical personnel should be informed. Patients with hypothyroidism should start with a small dose and gradually increase while carefully monitoring their condition, and diabetic patients should closely check their blood glucose control. This medication can interact with several other drugs, so if taking anticoagulants, hypoglycemic agents, heart medications, antacids, or other medications, it is essential to inform a physician or pharmacist. It is advised not to discontinue treatment during pregnancy, and nursing mothers should use it with caution. In pediatric patients, early diagnosis and treatment are important, and careful dose adjustment is necessary as overdose may negatively affect growth and development. Elderly patients may experience increased cardiovascular strain, thus it's safer to start with a lower dose and increase it gradually. Taking biotin-containing medications can affect thyroid function tests, so it's advisable to stop taking them for at least 2 days before testing. In the event of an overdose, appropriate emergency treatments such as inducing vomiting, gastric lavage, oxygen supply, or administering beta-blockers should be undertaken. This medication must be used very cautiously, and regular consultations with medical personnel to check status during treatment is essential.
