Precautions
This medication should be used with caution, as administering vitamin A in doses exceeding 5,000 IU daily during the first 3 months of pregnancy or in women of childbearing potential may pose a risk of congenital abnormalities. Children, especially those under 6 years of age, should not have access to this medication as overdosing can lead to fatal poisoning. Patients with hypercalcemia, sarcoidosis, kidney disease, individuals allergic to any component of this medication, and infants under 12 months should not take this drug. Those with hemolytic anemia, kidney stones, severe renal failure, or allergies to soy oil, beans, or peanuts should also avoid use. It is advisable not to take this medication concurrently with phosphates, calcium salts, certain antibiotics, antacids, or levodopa. Consultation with a healthcare professional is essential prior to use for individuals undergoing treatment, children who are frequently in sunlight, patients with specific kidney diseases, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and patients with gastrointestinal and heart and liver diseases. If any atypical symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, skin rash, joint swelling, diarrhea, or abdominal pain occur during use, discontinue and consult a doctor or pharmacist immediately. Long-term high-dose use may result in nerve damage, blood disorders, liver damage, and increased risk of osteoporosis; thus, caution is advised. Always adhere to the prescribed dosage and administration; especially for vitamin A, intake should not exceed 5,000 IU since it can be adequately obtained from food. During treatment, it is recommended to avoid teas containing tannins such as green tea or black tea, as they may affect blood glucose tests and urinalysis results.
