This medication is used to relieve various symptoms caused by a cold, such as sore throat, cough, phlegm, chills, fever, headache, joint pain, and muscle pain.

How to take

Adult dose

For individuals aged 15 years and older: 3 times a day, 1 packet per dose, taken 30 minutes after meals.

Precautions

This medication may put stress on the liver, so individuals who regularly consume more than three drinks a day should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. The ingredients in this medication can rarely cause serious skin reactions; therefore, if symptoms such as rash or itching occur after taking the medication, discontinue use immediately and consult a professional. Care must be taken not to exceed a maximum of 4,000 mg of acetaminophen per day, and it should not be taken with other medications containing acetaminophen to prevent liver damage. Individuals who have allergies to this medication or its components, or have experienced asthma, infants under 3 months old, and those taking or having recently stopped certain antidepressants like MAO inhibitors should not take this medication. While taking this medication, do not concurrently take any cough suppressants, other cold medications, antipyretics, sedatives, or antihistamines to avoid drug interactions. Children suspected to have chickenpox or influenza, individuals with allergies, those with liver or kidney disease, the elderly, pregnant or nursing women should consult a professional before taking this medication. If symptoms such as rash, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, insomnia occur, or if severe allergic reactions, blistering on the skin or mucous membranes, asthma symptoms, or abnormal liver function symptoms appear, discontinue use immediately and consult healthcare personnel. Children under the age of 2 should generally not take this medication, and if necessary, should be evaluated by a physician. When taking, adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage and duration, do not use for extended periods, and avoid alcohol consumption during treatment. Certain medications may slow the metabolism of acetaminophen; therefore, caution is needed, and if taken with the specific antibiotic flucloxacillin, discontinue immediately if abnormal symptoms occur. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, stored in a tightly closed container away from direct sunlight, and in a cool, dry place. It is advisable not to transfer it to another container.

Side effects and when to seek care immediately

Serious side effects

  • Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor → symptoms of shock (anaphylaxis)
  • Severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in oral/ocular mucosa → Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell syndrome)
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, cough + fever accompanied respiratory abnormalities → interstitial pneumonia
  • Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), extreme lethargy → liver dysfunction

Mild side effects

Rash, redness, itching, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, constipation, swelling, dizziness, anxiety, tremor, insomnia, fatigue, glutamic acidemia, high anion gap metabolic acidosis (HAGMA)

Storage

This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to protect it from air and moisture, at room temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius. Storing it this way can help maintain the effectiveness of the medication for a longer period.
