This medication helps improve the quality of sleep through adjunct treatment for insomnia and its sedative effect.

How to take

Adult dose

As doxylamine succinate, take 25 mg orally once daily, 30 minutes before sleep. Adjust appropriately according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by individuals with respiratory diseases such as emphysema, chronic bronchitis, or asthma. Patients with glaucoma should also not use this medication. Individuals with benign prostatic hyperplasia should refrain from taking this medication. Women who are breastfeeding should avoid this medication. It is safest for children under the age of 15 not to take this medication. This medication contains lactose, so patients with lactose intolerance or certain genetic lactose metabolism disorders should not take it. Caution should be exercised not to take this medication together with imipramine-class antidepressants, anti-Parkinson drugs, or disopyramide while on this medication as it may cause urine retention or increased side effects like constipation. Do not take this medication with other medications or for an extended duration of more than 2 weeks without consulting a doctor or pharmacist. Due to the possibility of excessive drowsiness, avoid operating hazardous machinery or driving vehicles. Also, do not take this medication during or after alcohol consumption. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. This medication may sometimes cause side effects due to anticholinergic action. It is recommended to take it primarily before bedtime as it may cause drowsiness upon taking. If experiencing excessive daytime drowsiness, a reduction in dosage may be necessary. This medication should be stored in a safe place out of the reach of children. Additionally, removing the medication from its original container to store it in another container can lead to misuse or degradation of quality; therefore, it should be kept in its original container with the lid tightly closed.
