This drug is used in conjunction with diet and exercise to help control blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes through the combined administration of empagliflozin and linagliptin.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended starting dose of this medication is empagliflozin 10 mg and linagliptin 5 mg once daily. If additional blood sugar control is needed and there is tolerance, the dose may be increased to 25 mg/5 mg once daily. The existing dose should be administered and can be taken without regard to meals. The tablet should be swallowed whole. If a dose is missed, it should be taken as soon as remembered, but if the next dose is within 12 hours, skip the missed dose and continue as scheduled.

Precautions

This medication contains empagliflozin and linagliptin, which are diabetes medications that help with blood sugar control. This medication should not be used in patients with an allergy to empagliflozin, linagliptin, or any other components of this drug. It should not be administered to patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. This drug is not recommended for patients with very poor kidney function or those undergoing dialysis, as well as patients with a history of myocardial infarction. Patients with slightly impaired kidney function should undergo regular kidney function tests before and after taking this medication. It is recommended that pregnant or breastfeeding women do not use this medication and consult a physician if necessary. Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, so it is best not to use in this population. In case of overdose, appropriate treatment such as removing the drug from the gastrointestinal tract is needed, and a medical institution should be visited immediately. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and stored in its original container to maintain quality.
