This medication improves symptoms of digestive dysfunction due to esophageal reflux, hiatal hernia, and inflammation or ulceration of the stomach and duodenum, including abdominal pain, dyspepsia, nausea, and vomiting. It also helps alleviate symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome and spastic colon. In children, it is used to treat habitual vomiting and non-infectious bowel passage disorders, such as constipation and diarrhea. It is effective in alleviating symptoms associated with gastrointestinal diseases and improving gut health.

How to take

Adult dose

As trimebutine maleate, take 100-200 mg orally three times a day before meals. Adjust the dosage as appropriate based on age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication contains lactose, so it should not be used by individuals with genetic issues such as galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Rarely, gastrointestinal side effects may occur, such as constipation, diarrhea, bowel sounds, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, oral numbness, or thirst. Symptoms like heart palpitations may also occur occasionally, so caution is required. Neurological symptoms such as fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, lethargy, and headaches have also been reported occasionally. Liver function test values may rise, so individuals with liver health issues should be particularly cautious. If allergic reactions such as skin rashes occur, the medication should be immediately discontinued, and consultation with a physician is necessary. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should only use this medication when the benefits outweigh the risks, as its safety is not well established. Breastfeeding women are also advised to avoid this medication if possible, and if it must be taken, discontinuation of breastfeeding is recommended. Lastly, this medication contains Yellow No. 4 dye, so caution is especially advised for those who have had allergies or hypersensitivity reactions to this ingredient.
