Precautions

This medication should not be used by patients with allergies to its components, severely impaired liver function, or severely impaired kidney function. Caution is advised for patients with epilepsy or a history of seizures, as well as those prone to seizures. Moreover, using NMDA antagonists such as amantadine, ketamine, or dextromethorphan concurrently can increase central nervous system side effects, so they should not be co-administered. Patients with factors that increase urinary acidity (pH), such as significant dietary changes, excessive consumption of alkaline beverages, or specific kidney diseases or urinary tract infections, should be monitored closely. There is insufficient safety data for patients with recent myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, or uncontrolled hypertension, so caution is advised in these cases. During the use of this medication, side effects such as dizziness, headache, constipation, drowsiness, and hypertension may occur, most of which are mild to moderate symptoms. Rarely, neurological abnormal reactions such as confusion, hallucinations, and seizures may also occur, so if any unusual symptoms appear, immediate consultation with a physician is recommended. This medication can interact with other drugs, particularly NMDA antagonists, antipsychotic medications, muscle relaxants, anticoagulants, and gastrointestinal medications. It is essential to consult a healthcare professional before co-administration. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully consider the risks to the fetus when taking this medication, and breastfeeding is not recommended while on this medication. It is best not to use this medication in children and adolescents under 18 years of age as its safety and efficacy have not been established for this age group. In case of overdose, severe symptoms may be observed in the central nervous system and gastrointestinal tract, so immediate medical attention is necessary. Lastly, this medication may impair reaction time and attention, so special caution is required during driving or operating machinery.
