This medication is prescribed to assist in blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes along with dapagliflozin, sitagliptin, and metformin. Patients can effectively manage their blood sugar levels by taking this medication in conjunction with dietary management and exercise. Improved blood sugar control is expected with this combination treatment.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage of this medication is 10 mg of dapagliflozin and 100 mg of sitagliptin, with sustained-release metformin hydrochloride determined to not exceed 2000 mg. Take this medication once daily in the evening with meals, taking 1 tablet per day, or in the case of taking the 5/50/1000 mg sustained-release tablet, take 2 tablets at once a day. To maintain sustained-release properties, do not break, crush, or chew it.

Precautions

This medication is used for the treatment of diabetes and contains multiple components. Do not take this medication if you have a history of allergic reactions to it. This medication can cause severe allergic reactions; if symptoms such as skin rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or lips occur after taking it, stop taking it immediately and consult a doctor. Pancreatitis, an inflammation of the pancreas, can occur; if symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, or nausea appear after taking it, notify your doctor immediately. It is safer not to use this medication in patients with poor kidney function, and regular kidney function tests should be performed in cases of decreased kidney function. Avoid taking this medication during conditions that may affect kidney function, such as severe infections, dehydration, acute myocardial infarction, or shock. Particularly, this medication should be temporarily stopped within 48 hours before surgery, and resumed after kidney function has returned to normal post-surgery. This medication may cause serious metabolic disorders such as hypoglycemia and lactic acidosis, so caution is necessary when there are risk factors such as irregular meals, excessive exercise, excessive alcohol consumption, or severe infections. During use, hypoglycemic symptoms such as dizziness, cold sweats, and severe fatigue may occur; if these symptoms arise, check blood sugar levels immediately and take appropriate action. This medication may increase the risk of genital infections and urinary tract infections; seek prompt treatment if infection symptoms occur. Low blood pressure or dehydration symptoms due to decreased fluid volume may appear, so precautions should be taken in cases of dehydration or low blood pressure. It is advisable to avoid using this medication in patients with impaired liver function and regular checks of liver enzyme levels are recommended. Serious metabolic abnormalities such as diabetic ketoacidosis can occur, so if symptoms of ketoacidosis are suspected, even if blood sugar levels are not high, visit a medical institution immediately. Regular blood tests and kidney function tests are important to ensure safety during the use of this medication. Additionally, this medication may cause serious joint pain or skin disorders in some patients; inform your doctor if you experience pain or skin changes. It is recommended to avoid alcohol consumption during the use of this medication as it may increase the risk of side effects. Finally, this medication is not safe for use in women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, patients with severe liver disease, or patients with type 1 diabetes.
