Adult dose
For essential hypertension, the initial and maintenance dosage is 8 to 16 mg of oral candesartan cilexetil once daily. This medication is used to treat essential hypertension and heart failure. It is particularly effective for heart failure patients with impaired left ventricular systolic function who require additional treatment beyond ACE inhibitors or cannot tolerate ACE inhibitors. It helps improve the symptoms of heart failure, reduce the burden on the heart, and stabilize blood pressure. Therefore, it is used for the treatment of essential hypertension and various heart failure patients.

How to take

Adult dose

For essential hypertension, the initial and maintenance dosage is 8 to 16 mg of oral candesartan cilexetil once daily. If blood pressure control is insufficient after 4 weeks of 16 mg treatment, the dose may be increased to a maximum of 32 mg once daily. For heart failure, the initial dosage is 4 mg once daily, and it may be doubled every two weeks to a maximum of 32 mg once daily.

Child dose

Safety and efficacy in patients aged 18 years and younger have not been established.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken by pregnant women, so it must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Persons with allergies to this medication or its components, those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, individuals with severe liver dysfunction or biliary obstruction, and those with specific genetic disorders should not take this medication. Women planning pregnancy or who may become pregnant should discuss this medication with their physician before use, and breastfeeding women should also avoid taking this medication. Overdosage may result in hypotension, dizziness, rapid heartbeat, etc., and prompt medical attention should be sought. The safety and efficacy in children and adolescents have not been sufficiently established, so it is advisable not to use this age group.
