Precautions

This drug should not be used in certain patients. For example, it should not be administered to individuals allergic to this drug or its ingredients, patients with thyroid dysfunction, patients with renal impairment, infants under 6 months of age, patients with herpes dermatitis, and patients undergoing radioactive iodine therapy before and after treatment. It should be used with caution in patients who are severely ill or have a history of thyroid disease or renal failure. Rarely, allergic reactions may occur with the use of this drug, including pain, itching, rashes, and irritation on the skin. Long-term use may delay wound healing, so if symptoms are severe, use should be discontinued. Using large amounts may cause electrolyte imbalances, metabolic abnormalities, renal dysfunction, etc. Additionally, careful monitoring is required as thyroid hormone levels in the blood may vary. If used in large quantities, there may be a metallic taste or increased saliva production, burning or pain in the throat and mouth, eye irritation, skin reactions, gastrointestinal disturbances, or respiratory difficulties. If used just before delivery, the newborn's eyes should be cleaned and bathed to ensure that this drug does not remain on the skin. When used in patients with extensive burns, adequate hydration, renal function, and acid-base balance should be closely monitored; if abnormalities occur, use should be discontinued. Because it may affect thyroid function tests, it should be used at intervals of 1 to 2 weeks before and after testing, and caution is needed as thyroid dysfunction may occur. Using this drug in excess may cause symptoms of iodine poisoning, so caution is needed and immediate medical attention should be sought if symptoms appear. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not use it extensively or for long periods, as it may affect the thyroid function of the fetus or newborn, and newborn thyroid function testing is recommended. Care should be taken to avoid contact with the eyes; if contact occurs, they should be immediately rinsed with clean water. Do not mix with other drugs, and ensure the affected area is cleaned before use. After use, if it gets on clothing, it should be washed off immediately, and using soap may weaken the sterilizing action of this drug, so it should be thoroughly removed before use. It should be stored away from direct sunlight, and caution is needed when storing in metal containers as corrosion may occur.
