Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is used to assist in the control of blood sugar for patients with type 2 diabetes. It is particularly suited for use when taking Empagliflozin and Linagliptin together, helping to manage blood sugar effectively in conjunction with dietary and exercise therapies. By maintaining stable blood sugar levels, it aids in the treatment of diabetes.
The recommended starting dose of this medication is 1 time per day and comprises 10 mg of Empagliflozin and 5 mg of Linagliptin. If tolerating 10 mg of Empagliflozin and 5 mg of Linagliptin and additional blood sugar control is needed, the dose can be increased to 25/5 mg once daily. This medication can be taken regardless of meals. The tablet should be swallowed whole. If a dose is missed, it should be taken as soon as remembered.
This medication contains Empagliflozin and Linagliptin, and is used in the treatment of diabetes. First, individuals who are allergic to Empagliflozin, Linagliptin, or any other ingredients in this medication should not take it. Additionally, it should not be administered to patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Patients with significantly decreased kidney function, specifically those with a glomerular filtration rate below 30ml/min/1.73m², those with end-stage kidney disease, or those undergoing dialysis should not take this medication. In cases of mildly impaired kidney function, regular kidney function testing before and during treatment is important. Patients with mild to moderate heart failure should use this medication cautiously, and it is not recommended for patients with severe heart failure. Linagliptin may cause acute pancreatitis, so if symptoms such as severe abdominal pain occur, discontinue the medication immediately and consult a physician. Additionally, a rare but serious skin condition called bullous pemphigoid may occur, so if blisters or lesions appear on the skin, inform a doctor right away. The most common side effect during the use of this medication is urinary tract infection, which may occur more frequently in women. There is a risk of hypoglycemia when taken with other hypoglycemic agents such as insulin or sulfonylureas, so caution is needed. Decreased fluid volume or symptoms of dehydration may occur, especially in elderly patients or those with low blood pressure, so fluid status should be monitored closely. This medication can increase the risk of genital fungal infections; if related symptoms arise, appropriate treatment should be sought. Women who are pregnant or nursing are advised to avoid this medication, and should consult a physician if necessary. Safety and efficacy in children under 18 years have not been established, hence it is not recommended for this age group. In case of overdose, consult with medical personnel immediately, as there is no specific antidote, and treatment should be appropriate to the patient's condition. Lastly, this medication should be kept out of reach of children and stored in its original packaging.
