Adult dose

The recommended starting dose of this medication is 1 time a day at 10 mg of empagliflozin and 5 mg of linagliptin. In cases where additional blood sugar control is required with good tolerance, the dose may be increased to 25/5 mg once a day. Precautions

This medication contains empagliflozin and linagliptin, and is used for diabetes treatment. First, this medication should not be used in patients who are allergic to empagliflozin, linagliptin, or other components of this medication, in patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, or patients undergoing dialysis. Patients with impaired kidney function may experience reduced effectiveness of this medication, so regular kidney function tests should be conducted before and during treatment, and caution is needed if taking other medications that may affect kidney function. Careful use is required for patients with mild to moderate heart failure (New York Heart Association Functional Classification I-II), while it is not recommended for patients with severe heart failure (Classification III-IV). This medication carries a risk of pancreatitis; if severe abdominal pain persists, consult a doctor immediately and consider discontinuing use. Additionally, there may be a risk of blistering similar to bullous pemphigoid; notify medical personnel immediately if any skin abnormalities occur. The most common side effect is urinary tract infection; in addition, hypoglycemia, thirst, cough, constipation, itching, rash, and increased urination have also been reported. Particularly when taken with medications that pose a risk of hypoglycemia, such as insulin or sulfonylureas, the risk of hypoglycemia increases, so blood sugar levels should be monitored closely. This medication can cause hypotension or dehydration due to fluid loss, so special caution is required for elderly patients or those with low blood pressure, and treatment may be temporarily suspended in cases of dehydration. Moreover, this medication may increase the risk of genital fungal infections, and appropriate treatment may be necessary if relevant symptoms develop. It is advisable not to use this medication during pregnancy unless under special circumstances, and discontinuation of breastfeeding is recommended if nursing. The safety and efficacy in children under 18 years have not been established, so it should not be used in this age group. In case of overdose, appropriate medical treatment should be sought immediately, and this medication should be kept out of the reach of children. During treatment, caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery due to the risk of hypoglycemia, especially when taken with other hypoglycemia-inducing medications. Finally, diabetic patients should pay attention to foot care as usual, and if they experience pain or swelling around the perineum while taking this medication, they should inform medical personnel immediately and seek treatment.
