Precautions

This medication should not be taken by individuals with hypercalcemia (high calcium levels in the blood), sarcoidosis (a systemic inflammatory disease of unknown cause), or those with kidney disorders. Additionally, individuals who have an allergy to this medication or any of its components should also avoid taking it, as well as infants under 12 months old, patients with kidney stones, and those with severe renal failure. During the use of this medication, it is important not to take certain drugs such as phosphates, calcium salts, oral tetracycline preparations, and antacids simultaneously. Those receiving treatment from a doctor, pregnant women, or women who could become pregnant should consult with a professional before taking this medication. Particularly, caution is required as vitamin D may be secreted in breast milk, potentially leading to hypercalcemia in newborns. Patients with heart and circulatory issues, kidney disorders, or hypoproteinemia, those taking cardiac glycosides, and individuals with a history of kidney stones should also consult a specialist before use. If symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, hypotension, flushing of the face, irregular heartbeat, or skin rash occur during treatment, it is essential to stop taking the medication immediately and consult a specialist. Also, patients who are deficient in folic acid should be cautious, as taking more than a certain dosage of vitamin B12 can lead to hematological abnormalities. In cases of overdose, gastrointestinal disturbances, hypernatremia, congestive heart failure, and edema may occur, and prolonged use may lead to hypercalcemia or nephrolithiasis. Caution must be exercised when taking this medication along with aldosterone antagonists or triamterene due to the risk of hyperkalemia. If symptoms do not improve or if an overdose occurs, immediate consultation with a specialist is required. This medication must be taken according to the prescribed dosage and regimen, and it is recommended to avoid consuming beverages containing tannins such as green tea or black tea before and after intake. When storing, keep this medication out of reach of children, avoid direct sunlight, and ensure it is stored in a cool, dry place in a sealed container. Also, it is important not to transfer the medication to another container to maintain its quality.
