This medication helps alleviate abnormal digestive symptoms caused by esophageal reflux and hiatal hernia, such as abdominal pain, dyspepsia, nausea, and vomiting. It also improves discomfort caused by gastric and duodenal inflammation and ulcers. It is effective in alleviating abdominal pain and discomfort from irritable bowel syndrome and spastic colon. In children, it is used to relieve symptoms of habitual vomiting and non-infectious gastrointestinal passage issues, such as constipation or diarrhea. Overall, it aids in treating gastrointestinal dysfunction, thereby improving the quality of life for patients.
Adults: Administer 100-200 mg of Trimebutine Maleate orally 3 times a day before meals. Adjust dosage appropriately based on age and symptoms.
This medication may affect the gastrointestinal system and can rarely cause symptoms such as constipation or diarrhea, audible gas in the intestines, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, dry mouth, or a feeling of numbness in the mouth. Additionally, cardiovascular symptoms such as palpitations may occur rarely. It can also impact the nervous system, leading to fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, lethargy, and headaches, which are rare side effects. There are rare reports of elevated liver enzyme levels, indicating potential liver function impact. Rash or other hypersensitivity reactions may occur, although infrequently, and if such symptoms appear, the use of this medication should be discontinued. The safety of this medication during pregnancy is not well established, so women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use it only if the benefits outweigh the risks. Safety during breastfeeding has also not been confirmed, so it is advisable to avoid it whenever possible, and if necessary, to discontinue breastfeeding.
