This medication is effective for various joint diseases such as chronic polyarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. It also alleviates pain and swelling occurring after trauma or surgery, and helps treat infections accompanied by inflammation and fever. Overall, it is used to improve symptoms related to joints and inflammation.

How to take

Adult dose

As dexibuprofen, take 300 mg orally 2 to 4 times a day. However, do not exceed 1,200 mg of dexibuprofen per day.

Precautions

This medication may increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding in individuals who regularly consume more than three alcoholic beverages daily, so it is essential to consult a doctor or pharmacist. This medication can affect the cardiovascular system and may trigger severe thrombotic events such as myocardial infarction or stroke; therefore, patients with a history of cardiovascular disease or risk factors should use it with caution. As a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, this medication can cause serious issues such as bleeding, ulcers, and perforations in the stomach or intestines; hence, elderly patients or those taking it for a prolonged period should be particularly careful. Patients with gastrointestinal diseases, severe liver or kidney dysfunction, severe heart failure, severe hypertension, or a history of allergic reactions should not take this medication, and those with asthma or hypersensitivity to aspirin should also avoid it. Taking this medication along with aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding and reduce the efficacy, so it is advisable not to take them together. While taking this medication, caution should be exercised as dizziness or fatigue may increase the risk of accidents when driving or operating machinery, and if breastfeeding, it is recommended to discontinue breastfeeding or the medication. Patients with blood disorders, liver or kidney diseases, hypertension, heart failure, a history of hypersensitivity reactions, as well as elderly individuals, children, and pregnant women should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. If any abnormal symptoms such as skin rash, difficulty breathing, severe abdominal pain, bleeding, or jaundice occur while taking this medication, it should be discontinued immediately and a doctor should be consulted. After 20 weeks of pregnancy, this medication may affect fetal kidney function; therefore, it should be used at the minimum effective dose for the shortest duration, and monitoring the amniotic fluid status via ultrasound during prolonged use is necessary. In case of overdose, even if there are no clear symptoms, seek medical attention immediately for prompt treatment, and keep it out of reach of children, storing it in a cool place away from direct sunlight and moisture.

Drug interactions

Do not take this medication with aspirin, other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or high doses of methotrexate. This medication should not be taken with corticosteroids, alcohol, digoxin, phenytoin, probenecid, sulfinpyrazone, sulfonylureas, ACE inhibitors or angiotensin II receptor antagonists, diuretics, lithium, coumarin-type anticoagulants (such as warfarin), baclofen, or immunosuppressants (such as cyclosporine, tacrolimus, sirolimus).
