Treatment of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease
This medication is used to alleviate the symptoms of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease and improve the cognitive function of patients.
This medication should be administered orally once a day at the same time each day. If necessary, it can be administered twice a day. Dosage escalation: First week (days 1-7) administer 5 mg once daily for 7 days. Second week (days 8-14) administer 10 mg once daily for 7 days. Third week (days 15-21) administer 15 mg once daily for 7 days. From the fourth week, administer 20 mg once daily.
This drug should not be used by individuals who are allergic to its ingredients. It is safest not to administer this medication to patients with very poor liver or kidney function. Caution is required for individuals with a history of epilepsy or seizures when using this medication. There may be an increased risk of side effects when taken with certain medications, so it should not be taken with NMDA antagonists. Care should be taken if there are changes in urinary acidity, and physician monitoring is necessary in cases of dietary changes or specific urinary tract infections. The safety of this drug has not been adequately confirmed in patients with heart problems or difficulties in blood pressure control, so caution is advised. This medication contains certain dyes, which may require caution for those who are allergic to these ingredients. While taking this drug, side effects such as dizziness, headache, constipation, drowsiness, and hypertension may occur, and if symptoms are severe, consultation with a doctor is advised. This drug can interact with other medications, so it is essential to inform your healthcare provider about any other medications being taken, especially anticoagulants, muscle relaxants, and antipsychotics. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should consult a physician before taking this medication, and nursing mothers are advised to discontinue breastfeeding while taking it. The safety and effectiveness of this medication have not been confirmed for children or adolescents under 18 years of age, so it is not recommended for use in this population. In case of overdose, central nervous system symptoms or gastrointestinal symptoms may occur, and immediate medical attention is required for appropriate treatment.
