Improves symptoms of stomach (ulcers, gastritis) and metabolic acidosis, and prevents gout attacks by promoting uric acid excretion
This medication helps improve symptoms caused by gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastritis, and excessive gastric acid, and it regulates excess gastric acid through its antacid action. It also alleviates symptoms of acidosis and stabilizes gastric conditions. Additionally, it promotes uric acid excretion, thereby preventing gout attacks. Therefore, it can be effectively used for both gastrointestinal disorders and gout-related issues.
As sodium bicarbonate, take 0.5-1g per dose, 3-5g per day orally. Adjust as necessary based on age and symptoms.
This medication contains sodium, and therefore should not be used by patients who need to limit sodium intake, such as those with hypernatremia, edema, eclampsia, urinary stones, or hypertension. Furthermore, this medication contains lactose, so it should not be administered to patients with genetic issues such as galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Caution should be exercised when administering to patients with severe gastrointestinal ulcers, impaired kidney function, heart or lung issues, and those with electrolyte imbalances such as hypochloremic alkalosis. While taking this medication, metabolic disturbances such as alkalosis or edema due to sodium retention may occur, necessitating careful observation. If abnormalities are detected, appropriate measures such as reducing the dosage or temporarily suspending treatment may be necessary. In the gastrointestinal system, symptoms of gastric distension, burping, and rarely, excessive gastric acid secretion may be observed. Particularly caution should be exercised when administering to patients with congestive heart failure, edema, sodium retention, or low urine output. For patients with metabolic alkalosis, it is advisable to take the medication on an empty stomach and to use it in conjunction with other antacids to minimize irritation caused by carbonic acid. Long-term use may lead to alkalosis; thus, symptoms like hematuria, vomiting, bleeding, and dehydration should be monitored. Due to the action of this medication in increasing the acidity (pH) within the gastrointestinal tract and bodily fluids, it may affect the absorption or excretion of other drugs, necessitating caution when used in combination. Additionally, taking it with large quantities of milk or calcium preparations can lead to milk-alkali syndrome, manifesting as hypercalcemia, hypernitrogenemia, or alkalosis, necessitating careful observation of symptoms and cessation of use if abnormalities are detected.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to protect it from air and moisture. It is important to maintain a storage temperature between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius. Proper storage will help preserve the effectiveness and safety of the medication for a longer time.
