Overdose may lead to gastrointestinal problems, hypernatremia, congestive heart failure, and edema, so caution is needed. Especially when taken with aldosterone antagonists or triamterene, potassium levels in the blood may increase, so caution is advised. Adhere to the dosage guidelines, administer to children under adult supervision, and avoid teas containing tannins, such as green tea or black tea before and after use. This medication should be stored out of the reach of children, protected from direct sunlight, and kept in a cool, dry, sealed container.
