Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

This medication may be administered once daily, one tablet regardless of meals, for patients receiving 10 mg of dapagliflozin and 5 mg of linagliptin.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, patients allergic to the main components or excipients of this medication, type 1 diabetes patients, patients with diabetic ketoacidosis, patients undergoing dialysis, and those with a history of myocardial infarction should not take this medication. This medication should be used with caution in patients with decreased fluid volume or poor kidney function. It can lower blood pressure or affect kidney function, so these patients need to have their conditions thoroughly evaluated before administration and check their blood pressure and kidney function regularly during treatment. Caution is required when taken with medications that pose a risk of hypoglycemia. Especially when taken with insulin or sulfonylureas, the risk of hypoglycemia can increase, thus dose adjustments may be necessary. The experience of using this medication in heart failure patients is limited, so it is not recommended for patients with severe heart failure. Acute pancreatitis symptoms may appear, so if any abdominal pain or symptoms suspicious of pancreatitis occur, the medication should be discontinued immediately and a doctor should be consulted. There is a possibility of developing a blistering skin disease called bullous pemphigoid, so if blisters or skin breakdown occur, the doctor should be informed immediately. This medication can cause various adverse reactions such as genital infections, urinary tract infections, hypoglycemia, decreased fluid volume, dizziness, palpitations, gastrointestinal symptoms, etc. In particular, genital infections are more common in women, and patients with a history of previous infections should be cautious as the possibility of recurrence is high. This medication can affect kidney function, so it is important to have regular kidney-related check-ups. Additionally, there is a rare possibility of a serious infection called Fournier's gangrene in the perineal area; hence, if there is pain or swelling around the genitals, medical personnel should be informed immediately. Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding is not recommended, and if pregnancy is confirmed, the medication should be discontinued. In elderly patients, careful observation of kidney function and fluid volume status is required, and caution is necessary during administration. While there are few significant pharmacokinetic interactions when combined with other medications, adjustments in dosage may be necessary due to the risk of hypoglycemia or hypotension when used with diuretics, insulin, or sulfonylureas. During treatment with this medication, it is important to have regular blood glucose tests and consult medical personnel immediately if abnormal symptoms arise.
