The dosage of this medication should be determined based on the maximum recommended doses of each active ingredient, specifically linagliptin 2.5 mg and metformin 1000 mg, not exceeding twice daily. Precautions

This medication is primarily used to control blood sugar, as it contains two active ingredients that work together to lower blood sugar levels. This medication can cause a rare but serious side effect called lactic acidosis, so it should not be administered to patients with impaired kidney function or liver dysfunction. Moreover, patients with certain types of diabetes, severe heart disease, acute infections, dehydration, or acute myocardial infarction may be at risk if using this medication. It is not recommended for use in pregnant or breastfeeding women, and consultation with a physician is essential before administration. This medication can cause hypoglycemia, so careful monitoring of blood sugar changes is necessary, especially when used with other hypoglycemic agents or insulin. Elderly patients with impaired kidney function or those taking medications that may affect kidney function should undergo regular kidney function tests. During the course of taking this medication, rare side effects such as acute pancreatitis or blistering dermatitis may occur, so if persistent abdominal pain or skin abnormalities are observed, the physician should be informed immediately. Additionally, this medication may lead to vitamin B12 deficiency, so if used long-term, blood tests to check vitamin B12 levels are necessary. This medication can interact with other drugs, so it is crucial to inform the doctor or pharmacist of any current medications. Patients should avoid excessive alcohol consumption while taking this medication and may need to stop taking it for a certain period prior to surgeries or radiological examinations. Safety in children and adolescents has not been established, so it is not recommended for children under 10 years old. This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container, away from moisture and out of reach of children, and transferring the medication to other containers should be avoided. In case of an overdose, immediate medical attention should be sought, especially if symptoms of lactic acidosis occur.
