Improvement in blood sugar control for Type 2 diabetes
This medication is used as an adjunct to help patients with Type 2 diabetes achieve better blood sugar control while maintaining dietary and exercise regimens. It may be used alone or in combination with other diabetes treatments to help stabilize blood sugar levels.
The recommended dosage of this medication is 5 mg of linagliptin once daily (6.67 mg of linagliptin besilate). It can be administered regardless of meals.
This medication should not be used by patients who are allergic to the main ingredient or other components. Do not administer this drug to patients with Type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Caution is required when using this medication with insulin or sulfonylurea drugs that can cause hypoglycemia, as the risk of hypoglycemia may increase. The use of this drug is not recommended in patients with heart failure, especially severe heart failure, and should be used cautiously in patients with mild heart failure. Acute pancreatitis symptoms may occur, so if abdominal pain or other signs of suspected pancreatitis arise, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. If symptoms similar to blistering or skin lesions appear while taking this medication, discontinue use immediately and consult a specialist. Various adverse reactions such as hypoglycemia, dyspepsia, edema, rash, arthralgia, and others have been reported, so notify medical personnel of any unusual symptoms during use. In particular, if there is severe or persistent arthralgia, this medication may be the cause and should be carefully monitored. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding are advised to avoid this medication, as its safety has not been established. Safety and efficacy in children or adolescents have not been adequately confirmed, so it is not recommended for children under 10 years of age. Elderly patients can use this medication without dosage adjustment similar to general adults, but dose adjustment is necessary in cases of severe kidney or liver function impairment. There are no specific antidotes for overdose, so symptomatic treatment and monitoring should be provided based on symptoms. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, and it is important to keep it in its original packaging to maintain its quality, as transferring it to another container may alter its quality.
Hives, angioedema, pancreatitis, bullous pemphigoid, difficulty breathing, chest tightness, severe swelling, severe rash with fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in oral/ocular mucosa, yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice), extreme lethargy, sudden and severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, confusion, visual disturbances, paralysis, significantly reduced urine output, severe systemic swelling with elevated blood pressure, heart failure.
Hypoglycemia, hypertriglyceridemia, hyperlipidemia, cough, constipation, oral ulcers, rash, severe and disability-associated arthralgia, rhabdomyolysis, weight gain, increased lipase, increased amylase, dyspepsia, edema, facial swelling, peripheral edema, weight loss, increased appetite, constipation, upper abdominal pain, enterocolitis, intestinal obstruction, gastritis, herpes zoster, cystitis, acute pyelonephritis, bronchitis, vestibular neuritis, sepsis, pneumonia, decreased appetite.

This medication must be stored in a tightly sealed container to prevent exposure to air or moisture. It is advisable to keep the storage temperature at room temperature, between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius. This helps maintain the medication's effectiveness and safety.
