Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is used alongside diet and exercise to help control blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes. It can be used alone or in combination with other medications to further enhance blood sugar control. This helps in managing blood sugar levels stably and preventing complications associated with diabetes. Thus, it is effectively used for blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes.
The recommended dosage for this medication is 5 mg of linagliptin once daily. It can be taken without regard to meals.
This medication should not be used in patients with allergies to the active ingredient or other components. It should also not be administered to patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. When used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas, there may be an increased risk of hypoglycemia, so dosage adjustments may be necessary. Caution is required when using this medication in patients with mild to moderate heart failure, and it is not recommended for patients with severe heart failure. Acute pancreatitis symptoms may occur during treatment with this medication; thus, if severe abdominal pain arises, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. Furthermore, a blistering condition similar to dermatitis herpetiformis may occur, and if such symptoms appear, discontinue use immediately and consult a specialist. There may be symptoms of hypoglycemia during treatment, so attention should be paid to symptoms and appropriate measures taken if necessary. The safety of this medication has not been established for pregnant or breastfeeding women; therefore, its use is not recommended, especially with breastfeeding requiring caution. Use in children under 10 years is not recommended, and for adolescents over 10 years, safety and efficacy have not been sufficiently confirmed. Elderly patients or those with impaired kidney and liver function can use this medication without special dosage adjustments. In case of overdose, remove unabsorbed medication from the gastrointestinal tract and observe symptoms while receiving necessary treatment. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, and it is crucial to avoid transferring it to another container to maintain safety and quality.
