Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering more than 5,000 IU of vitamin A daily to pregnant women within the first 3 months or women who may become pregnant, as it poses a risk of congenital malformation in the fetus. Patients with hypercalcemia, sarcoidosis (an unidentified systemic inflammatory disease), kidney disease, kidney stones, and severe renal failure should not take this medication. This medication should not be taken by those allergic to it or its components and infants under 12 months. During use of this medication, it is safe to avoid taking phosphate, calcium salts, oral tetracycline antibiotics, antacids, and drugs such as levodopa. If under medical treatment or suffering from hyperoxaluria, peptic ulcers, chronic ulcerative colitis, heart and circulatory system disorders, kidney problems, hypoproteinemia, gout, hyperlipidemia, or diabetic dyslipidemia, consult a healthcare professional before taking this medication. If symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, skin itching, dry skin, joint swelling, diarrhea, constipation, rashes, irregular heartbeat, hair loss, or gastrointestinal disorders occur during use, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor or pharmacist. Particularly for women taking oral contraceptives containing estrogen or at risk for thrombosis, caution is necessary as vitamin E may increase the risk of thrombosis. Long-term high-dose use may lead to tolerance or neurological symptoms, so it is essential to adhere to the prescribed dosage and duration. Vitamin A contained in this medication can also be adequately obtained from a normal diet; thus, caution should be taken not to exceed 5,000 IU when used as a supplement. Avoid beverages containing tannins, such as green tea or black tea, while taking this medication, and inform your healthcare provider of its use prior to blood glucose or clinical tests, as it may affect results.
