This medication helps in controlling blood sugar levels. However, it may rarely cause a serious condition known as lactic acidosis, so caution is needed. It is particularly unsafe for patients with poor renal function, liver problems, or those who have had an acute myocardial infarction or heart failure. Additionally, it should not be administered to individuals with acute alcohol intoxication or alcohol dependence. Because of the risk of hypoglycemia, careful observation of blood sugar changes is necessary when used in conjunction with other hypoglycemic agents such as insulin or sulfonylureas. Since this medication can be affected by kidney function, regular kidney function tests should be carried out, and the medication may need to be discontinued if kidney function decreases. When receiving iodine contrast agents used in radiological examinations, this medication should be temporarily discontinued before and after the examination. It is also necessary to stop taking this medication for a period before undergoing surgery. During treatment, side effects such as acute pancreatitis or skin blisters similar to pemphigus may occur; if these symptoms arise, you must immediately inform your physician. This medication can cause vitamin B12 deficiency, so checking vitamin B12 levels is advisable for long-term users. Do not chew or crush the tablets; swallow them whole, and it is normal for the tablet shell to appear in the stool. It is recommended to avoid using this medication during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and consult a physician if planning to become pregnant. Safety and efficacy in children have not been established, and elderly patients may require dose adjustments and regular kidney function testing due to possible renal impairment. In overdose situations, there is a risk of lactic acidosis, and immediate medical attention should be sought. Keep this medication out of the reach of children, avoid moisture, and do not transfer it to another container.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication may be sensitive to air and moisture, so it must be stored in a tightly sealed container. The storage temperature should maintain room temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius. This will help safely maintain the drug's effectiveness.
